Ch04: A Trek Through Time

2024-02-19 - Timeless Oasis - Completed

The hour is right for the Timeless Oasis Divine Dungeon to reveal itself. Researcher Sybil leads a group of Wayfarers to the point where it will appear, and where—if they're lucky—the Saint known as the Purifying Spirit awaits. Unfortunately, the group seems to have been tailed by a trio of Cipher agents who want to claim the Saint's relic for themselves, fronted by the fantastic, famous, fashionable and fabulously fleet-footed Miror B. himself.

Public notes

* Upon reaching the dungeon's heart, the group finds a tree that seems to move backwards in time until the only thing left is a stone relic. Sybil claims that Saints who have passed on without choosing a successor leave relics in their place, which means something has happened to Celebi/the Purifying Spirit with no one else around to assume the mantle.

* Archie and Koa have an unusually negative reaction to being near the relic, which makes them feel physically ill. No one is sure why this is the case, but since it was only them, it might relate to whatever Zweilous Alex and Xander did to them.

* Before the group can decide what to do about the relic, three Cipher members reveal that they'd been tailing the party. Miror B. (now a quaquaval), as well as two of his personal peons, Reath (zangoose) and Ferma (seviper), demand that the Wayfarers hand over the relic so they can try "pumping it full of Shadow". Thankfully the group is able to slow them down long enough to put some distance between them.

* Betel helps the Wayfarers make a quick escape using a temporary anchorpoint attached to the relic, but must draw upon their own shadows to have the strength to do so. The action seems to drain what little power was left in the relic, but Sybil promises to keep it safe and study it, and share her findings later.
