Not longer after defeating the Roaming Cyclone, Koa pays a visit to the Monastery to learn more about the nature Radiance and the wider world, and sharpen his skills for next time they are faced with shadows. There he meets acolyte Shira and gets into a friendly training match, and makes a new friend.

Koa really likes Shira, in a very much friend way. She reminds him of Kitto, who was his rival and closest human friend back home. Shira is very likely his first proper friend his age from Forlas.
This scene takes place after the Cyclone fight and after fighting Owen in the dungeon, but before any Novelux trips.
