Background

The reigning Hoenn League Champion and heir to the Devon Corporation and its fortune, Steven Stone is the poster-boy of the region. And he hates it. Devon was always the center of Steven's problems (strained relationship with his absentee father, a looming future that he could never escape), so he ran from it as best he could, plunging into his pokemon training journey in an effort to make a name for himself that wasn't doused in his surname's shadow. Turns out he was a talented trainer, and ended up finding himself in a different spotlight while trying to hide from the original one.

Many years and miles later, Steven has grown into his role as Champion. Though his heart still longs for adventure, he's poured his all into living up to what he thinks Hoenn's strongest trainer should be. His pokemon are more than his trusted battle partners; they're his closest friends and surrogate family. After seeing the region through the weather crisis of Kyogre's awakening, he vows --title or not-- to do everything in his power to protect that which he holds dear.

RP guidelines

Steven is a fairly easy-going person. Normally soft-spoken, he is patient and kind, though that kindness can lean into naiveté. He's also a bit too on the nose with things sometimes, missing humor or sarcasm directed at him (and usually at his expense). Also has a tendency to ramble about his special interests, though he usually catches himself before he goes on for too long.

Despite being a proficient battler, he's a pacifist at heart and values diplomacy over all else. He'll be less than thrilled with those who choose violence or aggression to solve problems.

Lastly, he's not the biggest fan of ghost types, due to bad experiences with them in the past, so forgive him for being a bit jumpy until he gets to know your ghost-type character better. (That type weakness doesn't help, either.)

Hidden Power: Soul's Requiem

They say a soul remembers things the mind cannot.

Steven's soul is no exception. It would certainly be hard pressed to forget the time he gave everything in order to save the ones he loved. In an act of remembrance (or is it defiance) in the face of what was once lost, and the desire to not lose it again, his soul manifests power from the will to protect and persist.

Through Betel's battle network, Steven is able to transfer a portion of his soul's power (or is it stubbornness) to an ally to keep them from suffering the same fate. In mind and body, he shares the same determination to stay in the fight until the very end. After all, one wouldn't be able to call themselves a Champion if they gave up so easily.

Second chances are so rarely granted. Better not let this one go to waste.
